Position Information

The main purpose and responsibilities of this role will include:

* Provision of Anaesthesia and Related Clinical Services
* Provision of I.C.U Services
* Rotation to hospitals including Rural Metropolitan and Specialist Hospitals
* Satisfactory progress in training for F.A.N.Z.C.A
* Registrars will be allocated work according to the rosters developed by the Senior Registrar and the Director of Anaesthesia.
* Registrars will work at all times under the supervision of a Senior Anaesthetist or Fellow in Anaesthesia.

Specific duties of this role will include:

* Preoperative Assessment.

In collaboration with the NSCCAHS BSF Implementation Committee, the BSF Clinical Co ordinator will work collaboratively with CFHN, AHEOs, Health managers, key stakeholders, including Aboriginal Health services, Aboriginal Medical Services, local Aboriginal Lands Council, community groups and the Aboriginal community to develop innovative and creative models of care to improve and sustain access by Aboriginal families to NSCCHS Central Coast Sector Child and Family Health services.

The BSF Clinical Co ordinator will will act as a team leader and, in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Child & Family Health (CFHN), provide clinical leadership, support, ensure access to professional supervision and case reviews for the Child and Family Health Nurses and Aboriginal Health Education Officers (AHEOs) employed in BSF and Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS)

The Clinical Coordinator will contribute to improving the appropriateness and effectiveness of community child health services for the Aboriginal community.

The Clinical Coordinator is pivotal to the coordination of client care, team management and leadership of the professions of nursing and midwifery to ensure the delivery of high quality client care and efficient use of resources and will :

* ensure the provision of an appropriate and safe standard of care;
* assume overall responsibility for providing leadership, direction and co-ordination of patient care

Selection Criteria:
* Applicants should have Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or other specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973
* Appropriate experience to practice as a senior medical practitioner in plastic surgery
* Medical practitioner registered or able to be registered in NSW
* Demonstrated relevant clinical practice at a high standard commensurate to experience
* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical officers, and published research as relevant to the position
* Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW VMO Determination.

Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals are 154 /156 bed teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Sydney. They have 24 hour Emergency Departments, ICU/CCU, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics and General, Vascular and ENT surgery. There is an extensive day procedure unit and support provided by an accredited Anaesthetic Registrar. Mona Vale Hospital also has a Paediatric Department.

Essentially the position may receive daily work requests from the Nursing Unit Manager and will provide support in this manner. The position has a clerical link with the Patient Services Manager for specific clerical matters, developments, training and the Cerner computer system.

The incumbent is responsible for the prioritising and planning of workloads and would be expected to have general office skills including basic keyboard and good communication skills.
